My Story
I grew up in New Jersey, a student athlete who always knew one thing for certain - I loved animals. The plan was veterinary school. But like a lot of plans, life shifted. College took me in a different direction and that dream quietly moved to the back burner.
What came next surprised everyone, including me. I spent six years as a law enforcement officer with the United States Secret Service in Washington D.C., working on the counter surveillance team - observing environments and people for suspicious activity and behavior. It was precise, detail-driven work that required reading subtle cues, patterns and intent. Those are the same skills I rely on every day working with dogs.
After moving to Arizona in 2010 I transitioned into personal security and later protective services for the Superior Courts. It was good work. But something was missing - and it turned out to be a four legged something.
Before I ever became a professional trainer, Penny tore her CCL. Faced with surgery I started researching alternatives and found a world of holistic care I didn't know existed. That was the moment I realized there were other ways to care for our dogs - if you're willing to look for them instead of just doing what you're told. I chose that path for her and it changed how I understood dogs - not just their behavior but their bodies, their pain and their whole experience.
In 2016 an opportunity came along to train dogs for a nationwide company and I ran with it. For the first time in a long time everything clicked. The person who once planned to become a veterinarian had found her way back to dogs - just through a different door.
Driven By Passion
The losses came during those years. Jersey battled lupus, ultimately losing her life to aspiration pneumonia from complications of the disease. Then in a devastating stretch Penny tore her second CCL while Siggy fell ill and was gone within five days due to hemangiosarcoma. I never got the chance to fight for her. Then Ari was taken by cancer too. Each loss was heavy. Each one made me more determined.
And Penny kept teaching me. Her senior years brought new challenges - hip dysplasia and arthritis. Because I couldn't find the resources she needed I went and learned them myself, bodywork, massage, acupressure, holistic therapies to name a few, pursuing certifications until I could give her exactly what she needed.
That determination was tested when Kairi, a client's dog, was diagnosed with the same hemangiosarcoma that took Siggy at just two years old. This time I was ready. Through diet, supplements and targeted holistic care, Kairi beat the odds. Three years later she is cancer free. She and her sister have since become family. Losing Siggy fueled saving Kairi.
By the time Ari was lost in 2024 the decision was clear. It was time to do this on my own terms - fully and without compromise.
Fetch This Canine launched in 2025, built on the freedom to train the way I always believed in - a whole dog approach that considers behavior, health, nutrition and emotional wellbeing together. No rigid curriculum. No cookie cutter solutions. Just training that meets the dog in front of me.
Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness followed - the practice I wished existed when Penny first needed it, now backed by years of learning and real world results. What I learned for her I now offer to every dog who deserves the same.
In 2026, The Empowered Dog Owner Movement was born to fill the final gap. Owners, fosters and rescues were navigating complex situations without the education they needed. EDOM became the answer - a platform built to give people the knowledge I had to piece together the hard way.
I've never been able to leave well enough alone. Turns out that's not a flaw, it's the whole business model.
